This morning, we headed to church in nearby Dartmouth to attend Jasmine’s baptism. We arrived just a couple minutes late, but easily found a seat and settled in for Mass. Afterwards, the priest performed the baptism, which went very smoothly. Afterwards, we went over to Marc & Beth’s house for a few minutes to relax for a few minutes, and then we headed to “Not your average Joe’s” for an early lunch. I split a BBQ chicken pizza with Nick –it was great!
After lunch, we went back to the hotel to change clothes and relax for a while. I got some change from the front desk and used the coin-op laundry to clean my jeans & shirt from Megan’s big blowout yesterday. I caught a short nap while the clothes were in the dryer.
About 4:30pm, we piled in the van and headed back over to Marc & Beth’s for dinner. They have a big, beautiful back yard right on a golf course, so there was plenty of room for the kids to run & play. Even some of the adults got in on a game of whiffle ball.
Marc & Beth are gourmet cooks, and they whipped up a great BBQ dinner with pulled pork, burgers, roast chicken, hot dogs, and all the fixin’s, including Palmagranite Margarita’s –yummy! After dinner, we took turns going inside and talking with Andrew using Skype video on Nick’s laptop. Andrew is working on a special research project this summer in NY state.
We sat out back and visited while we watched the sun go down. It was really a pleasant evening. They built a small fire in a pit and the kids had fun roasting marshmallows. We would have stayed longer, but we were getting tired and we have a big day tomorrow. We’ll be flying out of the US and landing at our first destination in Canada: Quebec City. It is forecast to rain there tomorrow. What a surprise!
